Pretty In Pink – This was such a fun movie. I remember watching this as an early teen, after being encouraged by my big sister to watch a few 80s movies. This era was so much fun, and the film was still enjoyable to watch today, all these years later. Molly Ringwald is a queen.
Snowtown – I heard a lot of jokes about Snowtown from my Perth friends before we moved to Adelaide, but I didn’t know much about the story. This was a an eye-opening film for me, it was quite beautiful in a way but overall so incredibly bleak that it left me feeling uneasy and sick to my stomach.
Godzilla – This is one of my all-time favourite cheesy action movies. I love Godzilla, and the cinematography in this version was really beautiful. Honestly, any movie that features a tsunami or any kind of big wave has my heart and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
Mean Girls – I have not watched this movie in years, and Sebastian had never seen it so I forced him to watch it with me one Saturday night. Still a classic, still funny, and still makes me sad that Lindsay Lohan’s career fizzled out. She had so much potential.
Pocahontas – This was never one of my favourite Disney movies growing up, but I thought I might have more of an appreciation for it as an adult. I did not. This one just doesn’t resonate with me, the only thing I enjoyed was how much the raccoon friend reminded me of our cat Pepsi.
American Psycho – I always had it in my head that this movie was sick and twisted and too horrific for me to watch (probably because I couldn’t finish reading the book for this reason), but I found it really funny and enjoyable. I’m not sure what that says about me or my mindset, but I liked it.
Bohemian Rhapsody – As a big fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury, I honestly can’t believe it took me this long to watch this film. I loved this, and it kicked me into a huge phase of listening to Queen on repeat that lasted for most of the month. I was not complaining.
Animal Kingdom – I started season one of this TV series last year but didn’t make much progress with it. I was in the mood for something a bit gritty one night, and this absolutely fit the bill. I love Australian film, and this was a shining example of how incredible they can be.
Iron Man – We recently started watching WandaVision, and decided we want to go back and re-watch all of the Marvel movies. We watched this first, before deciding we wanted to watch them in chronological order but hopefully it won’t have too much of an impact on the flow of the films.
Cars – This was my Pixar movie of the month. This one holds some fond memories for me, so it’s one of my favourites from the Pixar collection. Still sweet, still adorable, still enjoyable as an adult.
